Twenty-three-stone Martyn Ford explains diet plan for Iranian Hulk fight

Martyn Ford has adopted a more relaxed diet plan ahead of his boxing bout with the Iranian Hulk - which includes loading up on carbohydrates.

The British star is famous for his fitness coaching and incredible physical shape which has earned him a following on social media of over three million followers.

His latest sporting exploit will see him take to the boxing ring against bitter rival 'Iranian Hulk' with his training now including sparring and rehabilitation.

Ford has explained how his calorie intake has not been tracked for six months, but he plans to use his knowledge of nutrition to his advantage when preparing for boxing tests.

“You know what for six months I haven’t been measuring my calories," Ford told Mirror Fighting . "I have just been eating to my appetite and when I am hungry. The one drastic change I have made is my balance of food.

"When I was doing a lot of weight lifting it was predominantly fats and proteins. Whereas now it is a good 60-70 per cent carbs and it is the complete flip over. I am doing hardly any weight training but I keep putting weight on and muscle which is driving me insane because I am trying to lose weight.

"But the carbs are fuelling the work-outs and my body is so absorbent, but I have to respect my food. As you can see I am drinking my electrolytes now we have just trained for a few hours this morning, the food has always been something that I have and understood. So I would be naive and stupid to not take advantage of it and place emphasis on my diet and fitness training.

"Because that is my big advantage here knowing how to train myself and get to my optimum best. The skills of boxing is going to be something that is secondary to me in the sense of it’s not something I have done for 25 years.

"My food is absolutely on point, I am eating the best that I can and I have no doubt that I will bring something special because of that. If you can grasp the importance of that you can understand why every sportsman places it on top of their agenda."

Ford has previously revealed his diet plan and calorie structure as part of his fitness programmes that have been aimed at encouraging people who want to make a transformation in shape.

He is now adopting different strategies after varying his training to include more sparring and boxing teaching to prepare for his O2 Arena boxing appearance promoted by Boxstar.

And he is looking to use the "positive" aspects of celebrity boxing to promote a great event in April this year.

“A normal person just getting in the ring and let’s see what we can do," Ford concluded.

"Push yourself and take that risk. I don’t want to focus on the negative aspects of this celebrity boxing stuff and want to focus on the positivity where you can show people it doesn’t matter where you are in your life.

"If you have the balls to take the challenge on the internal reward thereafter is incredible."

VIP packages and tables for the fight between Ford and Hulk can be purchased for the event via the BOXSTAR website.
