Olivier Awards 2023

10.15pm, ITV1

A magical stage reimagining of Studio Ghibli’s My Neighbour Totoro, a sexy, modern spin on Rodgers & Hammerstein’s classic musical Oklahoma!, Paul Mescal’s sellout turn in Tennessee Williams’s A Streetcar Named Desire and a Jack and the Beanstalk panto with Dawn French – it’s time to celebrate the best live productions of the last 12 months with the prestigious annual awards at the Royal Albert Hall. Hollie Richardson

Wild Isles

7pm, BBC One

Fresh water is “the lifeblood of the natural world” and the latest instalment of what could be Sir David’s swansong series follows it from mountain waterfalls down to sprawling reedbeds. The footage of ravenous raft spiders and horny grebes is suitably striking but comes with a timely warning about how pollution degrades British rivers. Graeme Virtue

The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer

7.40pm, Channel 4

More famous faces try not to act starstruck in front of Paul and Prue as the great charitable spin-off continues. Footie-daft actor David Morrissey, butter-wouldn’t-melt comic Lucy Beaumont, Olympic diver Tom Daley and Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts – who also shares her own cancer story – shower the judges with quiches and more. Grace

8pm, ITV1

The last case of the year for John Simm’s underegged detective is set amid the local music scene – always a tricky one for crime shows to portray credibly – with a subplot about human remains on a pig farm. As usual, the mix of dour subject matter and sedate storytelling makes a long episode feel endless. Jack Seale

Great Expectations

9pm, BBC One

“Love makes a fool of you,” Miss Havisham (Olivia Colman) tells Pip (Fionn Whitehead) this week. Romance is but the latest lesson broached beneath the watchful gaze of Pip’s educator, as he also grapples with French on his journey into a gentleman’s world. Change is afoot, as a letter sent to lawyer Mr Jaggers (Ashley Thomas) changes everything. Danielle De Wolfe

Simon Reeve’s Return to Cornwall

9pm, BBC Two

The magnificently photogenic county of Cornwall has more than its fair share of economic and social problems, as the intrepid presenter Simon Reeve discovered when he last visited two summers ago. He’s back to make new friends and catch up with old ones, such as the Camborne-based food bank operator who is busier than ever. Ellen E Jones

Pete’s Dragon, 3pm, BBC One

Before he unleashes his version of Peter Pan on the world, here’s David Lowery’s entertaining take on another much-loved Disney character. When his parents die in a car crash while the family are driving through a forest, Pete (Oakes Fegley) survives and is befriended by a green dragon he names Elliot. Six years later, the now-feral child is found and taken to a logging town by Bryce Dallas Howard’s kindly ranger. It’s an adventure with King Kong vibes and a strong ecological message, as Elliot – and the trees he hides in – come under threat. Simon Wardell
