Bradford’s Big Bash

7.30pm, BBC One

West Yorkshire plays host to the UK’s city of culture for 2025, where the festivities kicked off last weekend with the Rise festival. This programme offers a special behind-the-scenes look at the two-day open-air event, masterminded by director Kirsty Housley and magician Steven Frayne (formerly known as Dynamo), and showcasing local talent. Bradfordian and Downton Abbey star Sophie McShera narrates, as we meet the city’s amateur acrobats, singers and poets. Hannah J Davies

Monty Don’s British Gardens

8pm, BBC Two

It’s the second leg of Monty’s journey across Britain, taking in the Lake District, Northern Ireland and the North York Moors. First stop: Lowther Castle in Cumbria, which has a wild garden running through it. Then he’s off to explore Beatrix Potter’s gardens. Hollie Richardson

Travel Man: 48 Hours in Rotterdam

8.30pm, Channel 4

Joe Lycett heads to Rotterdam for his breezy travelogue, bringing The Last Leg’s Alex Brooker along for the Eurostar ride. From their stay on an eco-friendly houseboat to exploring an art depot and trying the questionably named delicacy “trash butter”, the duo show us how to have a culturally rich two days in the Dutch city. 1066: Lucy Worsley Investigates

Most of us think the Norman conquest of England happened in 1066 at the Battle of Hastings. But, says Lucy Worsley in her latest juicy history lesson, that was actually just the beginning. She finds new clues to suggest how the biggest land grab in medieval history was pulled off. HR

True Crime Presents Murder: The Tattoo Clue

9pm, ITV1

A new series to scratch that true-crime itch, starting with the grisly case of a woman whose body was found at a petrol station in Hull. Over a forensic hour, we follow senior investigator Paul Davison and his team as they identify the woman and solve her murder. HR

The Graham Norton Show

10.40pm, BBC One

Cameron Diaz is back after a Hollywood hiatus – she’ll be on the sofa with Jamie Foxx, her co-star in new Netflix comedy Back in Action. Michelle Yeoh will also be discussing Star Trek, while her fellow Wicked star Jonathan Bailey talks about his West End production of Richard II. HR
