The Dog House

8pm, Channel 4

Single dad James and his four very excitable daughters are the first visitors to the Woodgreen shelter, in Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire, in the latest series of this dog adoption sob-fest. The girls want a dog that is as hyper as they are – will “very wiggly and silly” Papaya, a one-year-old labradoodle, be their perfect match? Meanwhile, Baxter, a dachshund, is looking for a four-legged friend – his owners think he is lonely. Hollie Richardson

Dragons’ Den

8pm, BBC One

Edible gift cards for dogs are pitched by a volunteer guide dog trainer this week. Will they prove to be more appetising than the innovative snacks with which a chocolatier tries to tempt the dragons? But with the panel looking for greener investments, a tech entrepreneur with a big idea about electric vehicles might be more appealing. HR

Pearl Harbor: World on Fire

8.40pm, PBS America

In a two-part documentary, vivid colourised footage helps to tell the story of one of the key events of the second world war, while re-examining the main players’ thoughts and motives. Why did Japan attack the US in the Pacific and did the Americans really not know the bombers were coming? Jack Seale

Grantchester

9pm, ITV1

With a new vicar arriving in season nine, this finale will be one of the last hurrahs for Tom Brittney’s wiry, haunted Will. Stuck in a spiral of guilt, Will is awol when his heavily pregnant wife returns. But before Geordie (Robson Green) can strong-arm him home, there is the small matter of a bloody double murder to untangle. Graeme Virtue

Rob & Romesh vs F1

9pm, Sky Max

Well, you can’t say this duo are short of work … This time, they take on the world of motor racing at the start of the 2024 season. In a two-parter they meet champion driver Lewis Hamilton, learn from the Mercedes people and are tested to see if they could be part of a winning team. HR

Billy Connolly Does

9pm, Gold

The great Billy Connolly discusses food and drink this week in a mixture of archive clips, standup and conversations at his Florida home. Whether he is discussing the sensual pleasures of smoking or giving up booze (“I don’t drink any more. I drank my whole share at once”), he is effortlessly entertaining. Phil Harrison

Past Lives, Netflix (Celine Song, 2023)
Celine Song’s wonderful, wistful movie asks: what if your first love was the greatest love of your life? That’s the question facing Nora (Greta Lee), who moved from South Korea to Canada aged 12 and lost touch with the boy she was close to, Hae-sung (Teo Yoo). Twelve years later, they reconnect through a series of video calls – but without being able to meet in person, where can the relationship go? Song’s film sidesteps melodrama to ponder the sometimes painful weight of history on the present and the decisions we make about who to love. Simon Wardell
