New Zealand’s Best Homes With Phil Spencer

10pm, Channel 4

“Can you imagine living here?” It’s a tantalising – almost torturous – question posed by the property guru Phil Spencer at the start of this new series, in which he tours some of New Zealand’s most impressive homes. The first is a collection of stone barns in Queenstown, on the shores of Lake Wakatipu on South Island, with panoramic views of the lake and hills that leave him speechless. Next, it’s a holiday home perched on a cliff edge on the Hibiscus coast. Hollie Richardson

Portrait Artist of the Year 2024

8pm, Sky Arts

The actor Cush Jumbo, the Senegalese musician Baaba Maal and the classical singer Carly Paoli make sure they are comfortably seated as they pose for their portraits in front of three budding artists. Stephen Mangan helps to soothe any shock reactions as the judges choose who makes it to the next round. HR

The Repair Shop

8.05pm, BBC One

The fixers have a famous object to restore this week. Sally Magnusson, the daughter of the former Mastermind host Magnus, has the original black chair from the show, but it has been battered by successive nervous contestants and the passage of time. Also needing some love are a glockenspiel, a children’s book and a wooden toy. Jack Seale

Ludwig

9pm, BBC One

David Mitchell’s perma-puzzled hero dons his hard hat to investigate after a man falls to his death on a building site. In true Ludwig style, it turns out he is scared of heights – and there is more to the case than meets the eye. Lucy (Anna Maxwell Martin), meanwhile, is frustrated that there is no news about her missing husband. Hannah Verdier

Parole

9pm, BBC Two

“I came into prison as this violent, aggressive child,” says a repentant Natasha, who committed murder when she was 16. But will the Parole Board consider her rehabilitated enough to move her to an open prison? And can Carl, convicted of kidnapping and torture, convince them that he has a handle on his drug abuse? DNA Journey

9pm, ITV1

It’s a Brookside/Royle Family reunion, as lifelong Merseyside mates Ricky Tomlinson and Sue Johnston explore their genealogy. They are huge supporters of trade unions and both have deep working-class roots. Ricky finds an ancestor who was a trailblazing female journalist whose legacy has ties to Michelle Obama. HR
