Only Murders in the Building season 3, Disney Plus
‘Who are we without a homicide?’ reflects shrewd Mabel (Selena Gomez) as she teams up again with her podcasting, crime-busting pals Oliver (Martin Short) and Charles (Steve Martin) for the welcome return of the star-studded caper. And the murder they are investigating this time is a corker, as obnoxious Hollywood actor Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd having an absolute ball) meets his maker on the opening night of his Broadway debut. But all eyes will be on Oscar-winner Meryl Streep inCa scene-stealing turn as Ben’s quirky co-star Loretta Durkin. The first two episodes are available from today and the rest of the series will air weekly.

The Yorkshire Vet, 8 pm, Channel 5
Even by this show’s standards, tonight’s emergencies are look-away gruesome – a frog with an anal prolapse, a cat with suspected mammary cancer and a sheep in need of a C-section. So it’s to the vets’ credit that these surgeries are approached with good humour. Indeed, Shona Searson describes her time with Carl the farmer rounding up cows for routine TB testing as ‘an amusing experience’. Winning in the light relief stakes, though, are Wetherby receptionists Bev and Sarah, who should have their own TikTok account.

Cooking with the Stars, 9 pm, ITV1
After an amusing five weeks watching celebrities stress over a hot stove, ITV1’s addictive culinary competition draws to a close – who will be crowned 2023 champion? Unsurprisingly, the grand final turns up the heat with the remaining three celebrities tasked with creating their chef mentor’s signature dish. Emma Willis and Tom Allen try to relieve tension in the kitchen, but it’s not easy as the final two go head-to-head to create their very own signature dish. Who will tickle the tastebuds of the professional chefs and be crowned celebrity winner?

Bake Off: The Professionals, 8 pm, Channel 4
TV’s toughest Bake Off focuses solely on chocolate tonight, with world-class patisserie experts Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden demanding nothing less than cocoa mastery. Cherish asks the remaining teams to create 24 fruity chocolate desserts (all identical – she has a ruler and isn’t afraid to use it, remember), while Benoit requests 24 chocolate desserts celebrating all things autumnal.
It’s the safari-themed showpiece challenge that proves to be the most ‘roarsome’, though, as Blighty’s top pastry chefs take a walk on the wild side to impress the judges with their chocolate-sculpting prowess. If only those pesky lion (moulds) would behave better…

Ultimate Wedding Planner, 9 pm, BBC Two
Wedding planning has always seemed like a super-stressy occupation to us but throw in a competitive element, a three- day turnaround and some real-life brides and grooms and adrenaline-levels are soaring! First Dates’ Fred Sirieix, Dragon’s Den’s Sara Davies and wedding-industry expert Raj Somaiya are the judges deciding which of eight novice planners has got what it takes. Tonight’s first of six episodes sees them try to work their magic for aviation-obsessed couple Sammy and Lewis, who are getting hitched beneath Concorde. But with planners Tash and Yasmin jostling for control, things get off to a tricky start!

Best box set on TV tonight
All eight episodes of The Witcher season 3 are now available to stream on Netflix, so you can see Henry Cavill's last adventure (before he hands his swords over to Liam Hemsworth) all in one go. This latest installment sees Geralt and Yennefer attempting to prep Ciri as forces from all across The Continent compete to try and capture her. Travelling to the magical academy at Aretuza seems like a safe place to start with, but its not long before danger arrives in this action-packed third adventure.
