Best TV shows on TV tonight
Henpocalypse!,10 pm, BBC Two
Hen parties are usually occasions when anything goes… and probably will! But it’s safe to say no bride-to-be would expect her celebration to be interrupted by the end of the world, which is exactly what happens in this six-part comedy from Caroline Moran.
Starring Lucie Shorthouse as bride-to-be Zara, alongside Callie Cooke, Lauren O’Rourke, Kate O’Flynn and Elizabeth Berrington as her hens, it’s a laugh a minute as the women fight for survival with the aid of some interesting ‘weapons’ - and a stripper in gold hot pants! With inspired cameos to come later in the series, you’ll want to settle down and stay tuned.

Bake Off: The Professionals, 8 pm, Channel 4
The contest is really hanging by a thread tonight for the best teams from each heat, with a place in next week’s quarter-finals in sight. Following a challenge involving herbs and spices and no recipe, the pastry chefs then face a Bake Off first: to create a dangling Showpiece, suspended from the ceiling and adorned with petit-fours. Watch in awe as the creations fly.

Emergency, 9 pm, Channel 4
A man run over by an articulated lorry is the first patient in a new series of the groundbreaking medical documentary, which this time follows London’s trauma teams. When emergency services including the air ambulance arrive on the scene, only Paiwand’s foot is visible, sticking out from under the HGV, and it’s a race against time to jack up the lorry and get him out.
Paramedics are also called out to Alicia, who has collided with a lamp post while riding an electric scooter. It turns out she has a huge wound to the back of her leg, caused by a fractured femur – and the injury could have life-changing consequences. Continues tomorrow. ★★★ HD
The Yorkshire Vet, 8 pm, Channel 5
Trainees Jordan and Hannah are experiencing Yorkshire in winter, but they’re in good company as they team up with Matt and Peter. The first call-out is to a heifer with a growth the size of a grapefruit on her neck that demands immediate al fresco surgery. Back in Wetherby, the vets are having a day of spaniels with blockages! One thing the trainees soon learn is that being a vet is far from glamorous. An X-ray shows that Betsy has a large foreign object stuck in her gut, and Hannah, 15 months into the job, is tasked with removing it – scalpel at the ready!
