We love musicals so we’re delighted this one-off celebrating the best of our West End and touring musical theatre productions is back for a second year. Recorded in front of a packed-out audience at the AO Arena, Manchester, and hosted by Jason Manford, it’s an epic night of show-stopping performances, designed to embrace people’s love of musicals while showing us how Lottery funding aids grassroots theatre projects. Look out for Hamilton, Les Mis, Wicked and Matilda among others – and get those jazz hands at the ready for a night of pure entertainment.

Casualty, 9:25 pm, BBC One
Multiple major storylines unfold tonight, commencing with the hunt for the evil care-home predator. Physiotherapist Roy Welch is on the run after being named in the press, and Dylan (William Beck) is determined to get justice for the victims – resulting in a significant set-to with Max. Running alongside this, it’s the day of Robyn’s funeral and guilt-stricken Jacob is left in no doubt that he isn’t welcome.
Faith, meanwhile, volunteers to work so that Robyn’s closest colleagues can say their goodbyes, but does she have hidden reasons? With emotional conclusions and shocking developments, this is another must-see visit to Holbyland.

Fortress Britain with Alice Roberts, 8:30 pm, Channel 4
Alice Roberts and co-presenters Danielle George and Onyeka Nubia examine Britain’s 2,000-year obsession with foreign invasion. The series begins with the reign of Henry VIII, whose split from Rome for his divorce turned the country against its neighbours.
Danielle is at Deal Castle to reveal Henry’s rapid fortification of the Kent coast and the eye-watering cost of bolstering his military might. Onyeka looks at the expansion of England’s naval fleet, and learns more about the king’s flagship Mary Rose, while Alice reveals the consequences of Henry’s dissolution of the monasteries which set England apart as a rogue state.

Best box set on TV tonight
Shadow and Bone is perfect for fantasy fans waiting for their next big fix. Season 2 picks up with Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li) on the run after escaping from General Kirigan's (Ben Barnes) grasp at the end of the first season. Here, she's determined to bring down the Shadow Fold, the rift of darkness that divides Ravka in half. Kirigan's got other ideas, though, as he's returned from the center of the Fold with powerful new monsters at his beck and call. Expect more magic, more characters, and more romance.

Best film on TV tonight
An Irish Goodbye, BBC iPlayer
This Northern Irish comedy-drama about two brothers won Best Short Film at the Oscars (along with a rendition of Happy Birthday by the audience to actor James Martin, who plays younger brother Lorcan). Written and directed by Tom Berkeley and Ross White, it follows Lorcan, who has Down’s syndrome, and Turlough (Seamus O’Hara) as they clash over Lorcan’s future following their mother’s death.
Turlough wants him to live with their aunt, but Lorcan has other plans and ropes his brother into carrying out a long list of their mother Grainne’s wishes (with Grainne’s voice provided by Game of Thrones’ Michelle Fairley). Warm-hearted and funny in equal measure, this is a joy to watch.
