Steeltown Murders, 9 pm, BBC One
The murders of three teenage girls in 1973 cast a shadow over Port Talbot for decades before the cases were finally solved in a remarkable investigation that used DNA evidence as it had never been used before. Now the whole story is told in this brooding and atmospheric four-part true-crime drama that also provides a moving portrait of grief’s journey through the years.
Philip Glenister and Steffan Rhodri are great as the two detectives who never gave up, but, poignantly, the true stars of tonight’s opening episode are the vibrant young women whose lives were cut short so brutally.

Clive Myrie's Italian Road Trip, 6:30 pm, BBC Two
Anyone switching on this episode of the travelogue series and seeing Clive wearing a kilt and helping out in a fish and chip shop, with bagpipes playing in the background, might reasonably assume he’s ditched Italy for Scotland. He hasn’t – he’s in the medieval town of Barga in Tuscany, where more than half of the residents claim to have Scottish connections. As well as having a go at the bagpipes himself – ‘It’s like trying to play an octopus!’ – Clive also visits a hidden red-quartz quarry and learns how to make a fish supper, Italian-style. Continues daily until Friday.

Stepping Stone, ITVX
Mental Health Awareness Week begins today, and to mark it, ITVX is releasing this short film. Written and directed by Noah Caplan, it follows four very different characters struggling with mental health issues and emphasises the importance of taking that first step and speaking to someone. The cast is headed by Danny Dyer and also includes Caplan himself, Georgia Moncur, Cush Berlyn and David Whitely.

Without Sin, 9 pm, ITV1
In this brooding, beautifully performed thriller, first shown on ITVX in December, the ever-fabulous Vicky McClure displays aching vulnerability as grieving mum Stella. Some three years after the murder of her daughter Maisy, Stella is in a bad way, but when, as part of a restorative-justice programme, she gets the opportunity to meet Maisy’s killer, Charles Stone (Johnny Harris), she steels herself to visit him in prison. What Charles tells Stella leaves her in shock, however, and leads to a desperate and hugely risky hunt for more answers. Continues daily until Thursday.

Building on the success of hit series such as Ninjago, the LEGO Group is back with a 10-part computer-animated adventure that brings children’s dreams to brick-ified life. The action follows brother and sister Mateo and Izzie as they join a secret agency that protects the fragile Dream World. Along with their friends, can the snooze patrol use the power of imagination to stop the Nightmare King from infiltrating the Waking World?

Best box set on TV tonight
Sorry for Your Loss, ITVX
Elizabeth Olsen cemented her reputation as a seriously talented actor in this smart drama about the unexpected effects of grief, first shown on Facebook Watch. It’s one of many US dramas that have been added to ITVX recently. She plays widow Leigh, who moves back in with her sparky mother Amy (a wonderful Janet McTeer) after the death of her husband Matt (Mamoudou Athie). As the two series progress, she attempts to deal with her difficult relationship with her sister, a growing attraction to her brother-in-law and the realisation that she didn’t know her partner at all.

Peter Parker continues his fight for justice, but unrequited love and personal worries take their toll and he is tempted to abandon his web-slinging alter ego. However, the arrival of deadly new bad guy Doctor Octopus plunges him into a race against time to save New York. Comic-book adventure sequel, with Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Alfred Molina, James Franco and Rosemary Harris.
