Best TV shows on TV tonight

Pilgrimage, 9 pm, BBC Two

Friendships are formed and there is kindness and lots of laughter – thanks
to former Hi-De-Hi! star Su Pollard – as seven celebrities of different faiths make a journey of self-discovery. This year’s series is in Portugal, with Su first to arrive at the starting point in Valença.

Her fellow pilgrims are actor Rita Simons, Boyzone’s Shane Lynch, influencer Vicky Pattison, paralympian Millie Knight, comedian Nabil Abdulrashid and maths genius Bobby Seagull. Expect glorious scenery, sore backs and feet and candid conversations about faith (or lack of it) as the group begin their trek to the ancient town of Fátima. Heart-warming and uplifting TV.

Redemption, 9 pm, ITV1

As Colette (Paula Malcomson) settles into her life in Dublin, her progress with police and family matters is frustratingly one step forward, two steps back. After being initially suspicious of Ross (Scott Graham), her granddaughter Cara’s (Abby Fitz) boyfriend, Colette asks him round for dinner, but is furious when she later discovers he’s not only dealing drugs but has roped in Cara to help.

And even though she’s convinced that her daughter Stacey’s ex, Eoin, was somehow responsible for her death, Colette is forced to back off after Eoin reports her to the police for threatening him. To add to her troubles, Cara and Liam’s father shows up, intent on fighting Colette for custody of his children…

Beyond Paradise, 8 pm, BBC One

However cunning a criminal might be, they generally can’t be in two places at once – so it’s a real head-scratcher for the team this week when all the forensic evidence from a burglary points to Hayley Collins (Hannah Traylen) – who was locked up in a cell at the police station at the time! A particularly tricky case like this is the last thing that Humphrey (Kris Marshall) needs when he’s still coming to terms with recent events – and despite Esther’s (Zahra Ahmadi) attempts to be a supportive friend and colleague, he’s wondering whether he still has a future in Shipton Abbott…

Operation Fortune, Prime Video

This slick espionage caper sees director and co-writer Guy Ritchie deliver his trademark fast-paced action and wry banter in spades. Jason Statham takes centre stage as efficient but troublesome spy Orson Fortune, who is reluctantly drawn into the hunt for a mysterious stolen device, known as ‘The Handle’, which could cause untold global damage. Eager to get his mitts on it is outlandish arms broker Greg Simmonds (Hugh Grant), so Orson and his crack team, including tech whizz Sarah Fidel (Aubrey Plaza) and Greg’s favourite Hollywood actor Danny Francesco (Josh Hartnett), have to go all out to try to stop him…
