Skinner & Mina’s Literary Road Trip: Pope & Swift

8pm, Sky Arts

Following in the footsteps of two renowned 18th-century poets who became best friends, Frank Skinner is absurdly passionate about “brilliantly witty English Catholic” Alexander Pope (at one point, it looks as if he might pass out like an overexcited pug as he reads a Pope quote etched on to a wooden bench), while Denise Mina is nearly-but-not-quite as obsessed with “acerbic Irish Protestant” Jonathan Swift. Hollie Richardson

It spotlights other families too, adopting a personal approach while keeping strongly to impartiality guidelines. Micha Frazer-Carroll

The Diplomat

9pm, Alibi

More intrigue and problem-solving in Barcelona: a one-night stand via a dating app soon turns into a living nightmare for recently separated holidaymaker Sadie, as Alba (Serena Manteghi) investigates. Meanwhile, there’s a major lead into the mysterious death of barman Jay Sutherland. And could a new romance be on the cards for Laura (Sophie Rundle)? Ali Catterall

This returning black comedy remains a conscious attempt to obliterate all the sentimentality usually surrounding disabled people on TV. This week, James Norton guests as an actor trying to get a handle on a disabled part. But Tim (creator Tim Renkow) isn’t going to make it easy for him. Phil Harrison

Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled

10pm, Dave

Never has a studio audience been more entranced by a panellist’s anecdote than when Sue Perkins talks about the time she was drunk and rushed into hospital while dressed as a nun. She joins Lara Ricote, Jamali Maddix and Josh Jones in this unscripted chat around Davies’s table. HR
