Course: Castle Pines GC. Yardage: 8,130. Par: 72.

Prize money: $20 million. Winner’s share: $4 million.

Television: Thursday-Friday, 3-7 p.m. (Golf Channel); Saturday, 1-3 p.m. (Golf Channel), 3-6 p.m. (NBC); Sunday, noon-2 p.m. (Golf Channel), 2-6 p.m. (NBC).

Defending champion: Viktor Hovland.

FedEx Cup leader: Scottie Scheffler.

Notes: This is the second FedEx Cup playoff event for the leading 50 players. The top 30 after this week advance to the Tour Championship. ... This will be the first time the PGA Tour plays a course over 8,000 yards. ... Shane Lowry, Justin Thomas and Adam Scott are among 19 players at the BMW Championship who did not qualify last year. ... The 50 players are assured of getting in the eight $20 million signature events next year. ... Castle Pines is hosting a PGA Tour event for the first time since the International ended its two-decade run in 2006. That was always the modified Stableford scoring system. This will be stroke play. ... Adam Scott (2000) and Jason Day (2006) are the only players in the BMW Championship field who played the International at Castle Pines. ... This will be the first full FedEx Cup event at altitude since Mexico City hosted a World Golf Championship at Chapultepec in 2020.

Notes: This is the final major championship of the year on the LPGA Tour. ... St. Andrews is hosting the Women’s British Open for the third time. Lorena Ochoa won in 2007 and Stacy Lewis won in 2013. ... Lilia Vu was only the second American in the last 10 years to win the Women’s British Open. The other was Mo Martin at Royal Birkdale in 2014. ... This is the final event before the Solheim Cup teams for the United States and Europe are determined. Lauren Coughlin clinched a spot for the Americans last week by winning the Women’s Scottish Open. ... Coughlin, Hannah Green and Nelly Korda are the only multiple winners on the LPGA this year. Korda has won six times, including five in a row. ... Three-time Women’s British Open champion Karrie Webb is playing. She is the only woman to have captured five different LPGA majors, winning at Turnberry in 2002 when it first was designated a major.

Notes: Nicolai Hojgaard is the leading player in his national tournament and gives the field its only player from the top 50 in the world. ... Twin brother Rasmus Hojgaard is the defending champion. ... The field also includes Thorbjorn Olesen and Danish legend Thomas Bjorn, who has been named chairman of the tournament. Bjorn also was the Danish captain at the Olympics. ... Nick Watney is playing on a sponsor exemption. ... An amateur spot went to Jacob Skov Olesen, the British Amateur champion ... Thorbjorn Olesen and Nicolai Hojgaard combined to go 25-under par in the Olympics at Le Golf National. Only the Americans combined to have a better score at the Paris Games. ... The tournament has been part of the European tour schedule since 2014. ... Bernd Wiesberger is the only two-time winner of the tournament. He is in the field for being in the top 40 of the career money list on the European tour.

Notes: Vijay Singh is the defending champion and a three-time winner at Warwick Hills when it hosted the Buick Open on the PGA Tour until 2009. ... Singh and Jim Furyk are the only players in the field to have won at Warwick Hills on the PGA Tour and the PGA Tour Champions. ... Among others in the field who won when the course hosted the Buick Open are Justin Leonard, Kenny Perry and Scott Verplank. ... Steve Stricker, who has finished in the top 10 in nine of his 10 starts this year, has not played since July 14 at Firestone. He is caddying for daughter Bobbi in the first stage of LPGA Q-school this week. ... There are six tournaments left before the Charles Schwab Cup playoffs begin. ... Ernie Els and Stephen Ames lead the PGA Tour Champions with three victories apiece this year. ... Padraig Harrington and LIV Golf player Richard Bland have won twice.
