TV star Jennie Bond lashes out at easyJet after making 'demand' in Edinburgh

TV presenter Jennie Bond has taken to social media after she was charged for a last minute change to her travel plans.

Arriving at Edinburgh Airport after filming Richard Osman’s House of Games, the 72-year-old saw there was a flight to Bristol that she could make that was three hours before the one she was meant to get. She's claimed that while seats were available on the earlier flight, it would have cost £156 to make the change.

In a Twitter rant where she branded easyJet 'mean', Jennie said she decided against paying and was 'sitting there waiting'.

Her post read: "How mean to charge so much to change a flight. Arrived at Edinburgh after filming Richard Osman’s House of Games to find a flight to Bristol I could make instead of waiting three hours. But you demanded £156 to do so even though there was space. So here I sit waiting. Why?"

On its website, easyJet say they 'understand that sometimes plans change' and have options for changing bookings. They say flight changes made more than 60 days in advance cost £30, while changes made closer than 60 days are priced at £54.

The firm adds: "Standard terms and conditions apply to all changes. If the new fare is higher you will be required to pay the fare difference. No credit is given if the new fare is lower. All changes must be made at least two hours before departure."

A spokesperson for easyJet said: "Offering the choice for customers to make changes to existing bookings for a small fee is one way we help keep fares low for everyone and provides flexibility to change flights rather than losing a booking altogether. Customers are able to change flight within 60 days and up to two hours before departure for a fee of £49 plus any fare difference between the two flights.

"For changes made up to 60 days of departure, a reduced fee of £25 per passenger, per flight is applicable, making it one of the lowest change fees available."
