TV series to feature missing Scots hillwalker who vanished a year ago

A Scots dad who has been missing for a year is to feature in a new TV documentary that aims to bring him home.

Finn Creaney, 33, was last seen at around 2.15pm on Friday March 25 2022 as he went hillwalking in Sutherland in the Highlands. The dad-of-one, from Tain, Easter Ross, had last been seen walking at Altnaharra, near Loch Naver, and his family has been left baffled by his disappearance.

Finn's wife Lucy has now revealed she has been interviewed for a new TV series that aims to establish his fate. The Scottish Sun reports that Finn's case will feature on Channel 5 series Vanished: The Hunt for Britain's Missing, presented by Dan Walker.

Florist Lucy said on Facebook: “This is way out my comfort zone but I will do anything to get Finn home. It’s nearly an entire year without that amazing soul in our life.”

The producers of the documentary series hope it will shed light on both Finn's case and those of others that have left police, family and friends stumped as they search for answers. Lucy says the search for Finn remains active.

Finn Creaney was last seen on March 25, when he was dropped off for a hike in the Highlands (Police Scotland)

In her post on the Search for Finn Creaney Facebook page, she added: “We have been busy pushing on with the search including getting drone pics to go over the land in a different way.”

Finn had been dropped off at Loch Naver, on the B873 public road in Sutherland, to start his planned walking route around the loch before heading south to Golspie. However, he has never been found.

Two weeks on from the disappearance last March, Chief Inspector Kevin Macleod said: “It is obvious from the response we have had that there is great concern in the community for Finn’s well-being. Since Finn was reported missing, a number of searches have been carried out by local officers who have been assisted by our colleagues in Operational Support Division and the Air Support Unit, along with our partner agencies.

“I ask that if you were walking in the area and hills between Altnaharra and Golspie recently to get in touch with us. It is possible you have a piece of information that could help progress our enquiries."

The programme will be fronted by Dan Walker (Jonathan Brady/PA)

Anyone who may have seen Finn or have any information at all is urged to contact the Search for Finn Creaney Facebook page, or to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0912 of March 28 2022.

The producers of Vanished: The Hunt for Britain's Missing said: “Every 90 seconds someone is reported missing in the UK. Most are found within hours, many are located in a matter of days… but there are some who seem to disappear, often with little or no trace.

"And there are more than 5000 people - a third of them children - who have been missing for over a year. This new, live, weekly series focuses on people who’ve gone missing across the UK – some cases well known, others not; each one with a unique set of causes, consequences and circumstances.”
