TV on DVD: 'Kidding'; 'Sarah T.: Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic'

'KIDDING.' Jim Carrey's TV series return casts him as a beloved children's show host in the Mister Rogers mold, trying desperately to stay sunny as his personal and professional worlds fall apart. Directed by Michel Gondry (Carrey's "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"), its quiet portrait develops into something magical and moving, surreal and stark, hilarious and haunting. There's career-great work from co-stars Catherine Keener, Judy Greer, Frank Langella. Season 2 hits Showtime this year (and, hopefully, then Blu-ray with better extras and high-def for that dazzling kids-show design). List price $30 DVD only, new this week from Showtime.

'SARAH T.: PORTRAIT OF A TEENAGE ALCOHOLIC.' Linda Blair (post-"Exorcist") and Mark Hamill (pre-"Star Wars") star in 1975's hit TV movie, directed by Richard Donner (Christopher Reeve's "Superman"), with Larry Hagman, Verna Bloom, William Daniels. Extensive new interviews with Blair, Donner. List price $28 Blu-ray, Shout.
