Comic Alan Carr in search for Scots fan who swiped shoe off his foot in Dundee

TV comic Alan Carr is returning to Dundee in a bid to find a shoe stolen by a fan.

The much-loved funnyman told how it was taken from his foot during his last trip to the city a few years ago.

He was discussing his latest ‘Regional Trinket Tour’ that is visiting dozens of theatres around the UK on Radio 2’s Steve Wright show on Wednesday afternoon.

During the chat with the legendary DJ, Alan confirmed there are are still tickets left for his Dundee gig on 7th July and also explained how the bizarre shoe stealing incident unfolded.

He told Steve: “The last time I did Dundee I was signing autographs by the stage door and having selfies and my leg was being tugged.

“I thought ooooh. I looked down and there was a woman on her hands and knees trying to undo my shoe.

“I said what are you doing and she said I want to keep it as a souvenir.”

And he added: “I don’t know what that was about being sold out but it was an anecdote about Dundee.

“I’m not a comedy machine, Steve.

“Let’s hope she’s there this year and I can get my shoe back.”

“Come along, you’ll have a right laugh. It’s such a giggle.”

The write up for the Trinket Tour says: “From the exhilarating high of his star-studded wedding day to the low of lockdown stuck on a farm, a lot has changed since Alan's last tour four years ago, including Alan.

“Nowadays, it's all about finding happiness and joy in the small things - why be a national treasure when you can be a Regional Trinket?!”

When he’s not doing his stand-up show he is also bringing a touch of nostalgia back to Saturday nights with Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow which revives some of the UK's all-time favourite TV game shows.

It is the third series of the show which first aired back in 2020 and this time it includes more reboots of Bullseye, Strike It Lucky, Take Your Pick and, for the first time, Child’s Play.

Kicking off the series is a celebrity edition of the cards-based game show Play Your Cards Right.
