TV commentators named for Georgia vs. Auburn game

The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry continues as the Auburn Tigers travel to play the Georgia Bulldogs in the 129th meeting in series history. The Georgia-Auburn game will be televised on ABC.

The commentators for the Georgia game are Sean McDonough (play-by-play), Greg McElroy (analyst) and Molly McGrath (sideline). The Georgia-Auburn game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 5.

No. 5 Georgia (3-1, 1-1) is looking to bounce back after losing 41-34 at the Alabama Crimson Tide. Georgia can’t afford to lose against Auburn.

Auburn (2-3, 0-2) lost 27-21 to the Oklahoma Sooners in Week 5. The Tigers have struggled to pass the ball efficiently this season and have lost three of their last four games.

However, Auburn outplayed Oklahoma in many respects. The Tigers gained 191 more total yards and 15 more first downs than Oklahoma. Auburn quarterback Payton Thorne threw a costly pick-six and the Tigers missed two field goals, which were huge reasons why Auburn lost to Oklahoma.

Georgia and head coach Kirby Smart have won seven straight games against Auburn dating back to 2017. Last year, the Dawgs won a tight 27-20 road game at Auburn.

“Obviously the record may not indicate, but the record doesn’t speak for what this team is. But they’ve got a really good football team,” said Kirby Smart ahead of the Auburn game. There’s no doubt that if Auburn avoided a few mistakes they’d be in a much better position.

ESPN’s matchup predictor gives Georgia an 91.2% chance to beat Auburn.
