TV Choice Awards 2022 shortlist as Bridgerton and Jodie Comer lead nominations

TV Choice Awards have announced their shortlist for 2022 - with Bridgerton leading the way with three nominations.

But the period drama will have a battle on its hands as Korean horror series Squid Game - which initially overtook Bridgerton as the most watched series on Netflix - is up for Best New Drama. Over in the daytime TV category, This Morning will be hoping to win Best Daytime Show for the seventh year in a row, but The Chase will be hot on their heels.

Ricky Gervais and Siobhan McSweeney are also up for nominations for their roles in After Life and Derry Girls. While Killing Eve might be over, Jodie Comer is in the running for the fourth year in a row to win a gong for her portrayal as Villanelle.

Coronation Street, Emmerdale, EastEnders and Neighbours will all be going up against one another to win Best Soap... but who will be victorious?

Jon Peake, Editor of TV Choice magazine commented: ‘It’s a real thrill to see such a diverse range of talent among the nominations this year, as well as some established favourites. But as to who’ll triumph on the night– let’s wait and see!’

Squid Game is nominated for Best New Drama (Netflix)

Jo Brand will be hosting this year's ceremony. She said: "I am, as always, really looking forward to the great evening of The TV Choice Awards 2022. It’s always a lively event, and yes, that is a euphemism!"
