Rory McIlroy’s Masters triumph capped a record-breaking Sunday for Sky Sports, which recorded the most-watched day in its history.
Sky said 7.5million viewers switched on its linear channels to watch a series of high-profile events including Premier League football and the Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix, culminating in McIlroy’s dramatic victory at Augusta National.
A record average audience of 1.3m tuned in between 6am and 2am, which yielded a record 19 per cent share of total TV viewing – higher than any terrestrial broadcaster.
