TV and YouTube comic Alasdair Beckett-King bringing hit 'interdimensional' stand-up show to Northern Ireland

With a raft of viral YouTube hits and multiple appearances on Mock The Week under his (vegan leather) belt, Alasdair Becket-King is thrilled to return to his first love – stand-up comedy, as he takes his hit show to Northern Ireland.

Alasdair answers questions about superheroes, the secret to luscious locks, and why you should come and see his dimension-hopping stand-up comedy show live at The Limelight, Belfast on 19th May and The Nerve Centre, Derry on 20th May.

After several sold-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, Alasdair predicts that 2023 will be the year of hard-hitting, uncompromising whimsy. His YouTube spoofs now have millions of views but he learned to do stand-up first, so The Interdimensional ABK is a real show with jokes and everything.

Innovative observational comedy, idiosyncratic animated illustrations and what one critic called “majestic” ginger locks, team up to deliver charmingly subtle commentary on the unavoidably addressed political climate in which we find ourselves.

Alasdair is excited to bring the show to Northern Ireland and give crowds something different from the usual stand-up show.

He said: "Even though I look like a Game of Thrones extra, I have not spent a lot of time in Northern Ireland. I have gigged in NI, but I have never been to Derry itself. So I’m very excited to bring my show to the Nerve Centre.

"It’s got everything: jokes; animation; an interval. My dad is Catholic and my mum is Protestant, so there’s really something for everybody.

"I have had some smashing gigs in Belfast. Belfast audiences do have a reputation, and the first time I came I had visions of the scene from Jurassic Park where they lower a goat into the velociraptors’ pit.

"But I’ve been delighted to find Belfast crowds to be some of the warmest, smartest, and gingerest audiences I’ve ever played to."

Alasdair Becket-King will perform at The Limelight, Belfast on 19th May 2023 and Nerve Centre, Derry on 20th May 2023. To book, visit here.
