Tusker captured after killing three in Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu border

TIRUPATI: The wild tusker with a musth condition, which killed a couple near 198 Ramapuram village in Chittoor district on Wednesday, continued its killing spree by trampling yet another woman to death on Thursday.

The lone tusker which remained elusive from being captured by the forest department, continued its rampage in the neighbouring Bodinattam village on Tamil Nadu side along the Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu border, and trampled a 54-year-old woman identified as Vasantha to death on Thursday.

Chief conservator of forests Nageswara Rao and his team finally managed to tranquilize the pachyderm near a sugarcane field at Ramapuram village earlier today.

It took nearly 30 long hours for the forest department staff to capture the wild elephant which was dangerously criss-crossing the fringe villages between Andhra-Tamil Nadu border since Wednesday morning.

The locals at Ramapuram and Bodinattam villages who were traumatized by three back to back deaths at their villages due to the tusker attacks, finally heaved a big sigh of relief, after the forest department finally captured the marauding beast on Thursday.
