Paul Merson believes whoever tastes defeat at the King Power Stadium 'might as well turn the lights off' as far as their Premier League season is concerned.
Everton travel to Leicester City for a mouthwatering six-pointer on Monday night. A win for either club - currently sitting 18th and 19th in the table - could be enough to lift them out of the relegation zone.
The clock is ticking, with the Toffees desperately searching for a win to propel them towards safety. Just one win in 10 has plunged Everton into crisis and few home supporters were left at Goodison Park once Newcastle United’s 4-1 victory was confirmed on Thursday. Likewise, Leicester are also teetering on the brink and recently replaced Brendan Rodgers with Dean Smith in the King Power hot seat.

Arsenal legend Merson expects more misery for Evertonians on Monday when Sean Dyche and his side travel to the Midlands. He wrote in his SportsKeeda column: “This is an absolutely humongous game in the relegation battle.
"It's the biggest game of the weekend for me. Leicester City have done decently in recent weeks. They beat Wolves last weekend and drew with Leeds United in midweek.
“They should win this one and, if they win this one, they will go four points clear of Everton. The Toffees have a very difficult set of fixtures coming up and Leicester should be able to make home advantage count on Monday night when the two sides lock horns.
The former winger also claimed Everton should play for a draw in their remaining fixtures to ensure the best possible chance of survival. As it stands, the Toffees are two points adrift from safety.
“I saw Everton play out a goalless draw last week at Crystal Palace and I think the only way they have a chance of survival is if they play for a draw in each of their remaining games.
Merson then added. “I don't see them winning another football match this season. Whoever loses this game might as well turn the lights off because the season is as good as over for them.”
