Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has confirmed that Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh is scheduled to visit Turkey on Saturday. Erdogan indicated that the discussions during the visit will remain confidential for the time being, with actions to be taken accordingly.
Expressing his concerns over the recent escalation, Erdogan highlighted a perceived lack of international leadership in addressing the situation. He noted the conflicting statements from Israel and Iran, emphasizing the absence of a clear claim regarding the attack. Erdogan pointed out the challenge of determining the accuracy of statements from different countries, including the United States.
Erdogan also commented on the United States' decision to veto a United Nations Security Council resolution that aimed to facilitate full UN recognition of a Palestinian state. He stated that while the global community supported Palestine, the US once again sided with Israel. Erdogan expressed that this outcome was not unexpected, underscoring the alignment of the US with Israel in such matters.
