After months of speculation, negotiations, rumours and plenty of back-and-forth, it seems the Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn super-fight is officially on.
That’s according to His Excellency Turk Alalshikh, who took to social media in the early hours of Wednesday morning to confirm that the fight is done. The Saudi Arabia boxing chief also confirmed that the bout will take place in London in April, with no official date or venue announced just yet.
There had been speculation already this week that Eubank Jr vs Benn would take place on April 26th in London, which could be the case. However, Alalshikh has revealed that he will announce the date and location of the all-British grudge match in due course.
It seems that the fight is now officially on, over two years on from their first scheduled meeting in October 2022. Since then, Chris Eubank Jr has had three fights. Two with Liam Smith before an outing in Riyadh at the back end of last year.
Conor Benn on the other hand has fought just twice since April 2022. This is due to his ongoing case with UKAD, the British Boxing Board of Control, VADA and other boxing governing bodies. This came after initially failing two performance enhancing drugs tests in fight week of the scheduled ‘Born Rivals’ showdown with ‘Next Gen’ in October 2022.

With Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn now official, the pair have seemingly agreed on terms for the fight. It had been rumoured that Eubank Jr accepted a 55-45 purse split in his favour, but that Team Benn were pushing for it to be a 50-50.
Exact purse split are yet to be confirmed by either fighter, or the two promoters in Eddie Hearn and Ben Shalom. Either way, it seems that both fighters must be happy with their respective contracts with the fight now officially ‘done’ according to Turki Alalshikh.
