Iran has requested assistance from Turkey in the search for Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's crashed helicopter, as confirmed by the Turkish disaster and emergency management ministry on Sunday. The request specifically asked for a night vision search and rescue helicopter from Turkey.
In response to the request, Turkey has mobilized support by dispatching six vehicles and 32 mountaineer search and rescue personnel to aid in the search efforts in Iran. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his government's active involvement in the situation, stating that they are closely monitoring the incident and maintaining constant communication and coordination with Iranian authorities.
President Erdogan also extended his well wishes to the Iranian people and government, emphasizing solidarity and expressing hope for positive updates regarding President Raisi and his delegation. The crash occurred in the remote and mountainous East Azerbaijan Province, where challenging conditions, including dense fog, have complicated the search operation, even during daylight hours.
