Turbo jets off to the US for rehab trip

Manly are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to have fullback Tom Trbojevic fit and firing for the 2023 NRL season, sending their prized No.1 to the US for specialised treatment early next year.

Trbojevic has been hampered by hamstring issues throughout his career and suffered a recurrence of the problem last week during a pre-season session.

Their win rate without the 26-year-old since 2019 has been a lowly 34 per cent, compared to a 68 per cent record when he's firing on all cylinders.

His importance is not lost on new head coach Anthony Seibold, who after the latest flare-up, has chosen to send the 2021 Dally M medal winner to Philadelphia to work with renowned conditioner Bill Knowles.

The American has previously worked with the likes of Andy Murray, Tiger Woods and last year was key to South Sydney No.1 Latrell Mitchell overcoming his repeated hamstring problems.

"I saw what Latrell did off the back of it (his work with Knowles)," Trbojevic said.

"I think it's a good opportunity for me to go over there and look at a few new ideas that I can bring back here and hopefully have a really good 2023."

Trbojevic was restricted to just seven NRL games in 2022 through his hamstring issue and a season-ending shoulder injury.

The shoulder complaint meant the fullback missed NSW's State of Origin campaign and the chance to play for the Kangaroos at the Rugby League World Cup in England.
