Tupac's sister in tearful tribute as rapper is honoured with Hollywood Walk of Fame star

Tupac Shakur's sister was on hand to celebrate her brother receiving a posthumous Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

The late rap icon was honoured on Wednesday and a group of the artist's close friends, family and supporters were in attendance for the big reveal.

He became the 2,758th person to get a star on Hollywood Boulevard and his proud sister was overcome with emotion as she delivered a speech to the crowd.

Sekyiwa Shakur just about managed to hold back the tears as she spoke in front of the bumper crowd, discussing her brother's huge accomplishments and summing up his legacy as one which was filled with passion and perseverance.

Met with constant cheers, Sekyiwa said: "It fills my heart with honour to stand here today representing the Shakur family."

With a tremble in her voice, she continued: "Tupac knew deep down that he was always meant for something great. And as his little sister I had the privilege to watch that greatness unfold."

She went on to talk about his accomplishments as a youngster and his dreams.

After pausing to regain her composure, she said: "Today we're not just honouring a star on the ground, but we're honouring the work and the passion that he's put into making his dreams come true.

"His heavenly star will shine a little brighter today and once again he has made us extremely proud."

The late musician, who died at the age of 25 in September 1996, will be recognised on the iconic strip 26 years after he was murdered in Las Vegas.

The rapper was shot in a car in Sin City while a white Cadillac Sedan pulled up on the passenger side of Tupac's car and rapidly fired into the car.

He was shot four times and taken hospital where he was put on life support. Sadly, he died seven days later from internal bleeding with the official cause of death later recorded as respiratory failure and cardiopulmonary arrest associated with gunshot wounds.

Tupac had previously been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame back in 2017. He also has a pair of Diamond albums to go along with his 75 million records sold.
