Tummery Road: Police to return to scene of fatal Co Tyrone crash for second time

The PSNI are to revisit the scene of a fatal Co Tyrone crash that claimed the life of a man in his 20s for a second time.

The single vehicle collision happened on the Tummery Road near Dromore on 20 August, with the man later passing away in hospital from his injuries.

Officers will return to the scene this Thursday to carry out 'scene testing', with police advising that traffic in the area will be stopped for periods.

Drivers have been advised that delays are expected in the area as a result.

PSNI officers had previously visited the scene in November to carry out searches in relation to the fatal crash.

"Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Collision Investigation Unit investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the Tummery Road, Omagh, on Saturday, 20th August 2022, are to return to the scene," a PSNI spokesperson said.

"Scene testing will be carried out on Thursday, 12th January, during which traffic will be stopped for short periods. Due to this, delays are expected in the area from 10am.

"We thank the public for their patience as this is carried out."

Police attended the scene of the collision shortly before 8.30am on August 20, where a Ford Transit van was discovered in a nearby ditch.

Two men were taken to hospital for treatment and police later confirmed one man died following the collision.
