Tui passengers 'only have clothes they're wearing' as bags left in UK

A planeload of UK travellers arrived for a dream holiday in Florida only to realised their luggage hadn't arrived with them.

Holidaymakers arrived in Orlando after flying 4,000 miles from Newcastle Airport on Monday, May 9, only to learn that their luggage had not even been loaded onto the plane. The blunder left some passengers without pushchairs, nappies, baby formula and even medication.

Chronicle Live reported that one passenger said that they arrived in Florida excited about their holiday when they heard over a loudspeaker that the 'majority' of their belongings had not been loaded. She claimed that their flight had even been delayed in Newcastle due to "putting on the cases".

Another passenger said he was still waiting for the travel company to explain what had actually happened on Tuesday morning. He described the situation as "absolutely shocking" adding that he had nothing to wear other than the clothes he travelled in.

Now TUI has apologised for the error and confirmed that they are working with the airport and their handling agent to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. They added that they are sorry and understand how frustrating this will be for the passengers affected.

A TUI spokesperson said: "We’d like to apologise to customers whose baggage has been delayed on flight TOM858 from Newcastle to Florida. We are working with our handling agent to resolve this as quickly as possible, but we understand how frustrating this is and we are sorry for any inconvenience caused."
