TUI offers holiday refund chance to help families amid cost-of-living crisis

TUI customers will be able to get the cost of their 2023 refunded as part of a cost-of-living crisis offer from the UK's largest tour operator. Despite recession fears and inflation pressures, holidays are one of the last things Britons are prepared to give up.

The travel giant said it understood the value of overseas getaways and how, more than ever, customers need to spend smartly. So next month families will have the chance to get the cost of their 2023 summer holiday back.

From September 3 to October 5, families that book a TUI beach, lakes and mountains or Marella Cruises package holiday will be entered into a random prize draw to win the full cost of their trip, with a winner guaranteed every day. It’s part of several initiatives TUI has put in place to help holidaymakers sort their plans for next summer.

As well as zero or low £25 deposits, customers can take advantage of flexible payment options to spread the cost with easy direct debit payments. And there are 1,000s of free kids places for next July and August.

Richard Sofer, TUI’s commercial director, said: "The last two years have been tough on everyone, and we know finances will continue to be challenging given the cost-of-living crisis many families will face. Holidays are precious and it’s understandable people are reluctant to give up that special time to recharge and reconnect with loved ones.

"It really will pay to book early though, locking in prices now, spreading the cost over a longer period and grabbing one of the 1,000s of free kids' places that are currently available bang in school holiday time."

He added: "People are budgeting to spend the same next year as they did this year but possibly planning to spend it a little differently. All-inclusive bookings where there are no hidden extras, for example, have seen a marked increased accounting for nearly 70 per cent of our holiday bookings for next year.

"And the two-week holiday is no longer the norm with 10-night bookings up 45 per cent since pre-pandemic. However, customers choose to holiday, we’ll do our best to give them an affordable and enjoyable break next summer.”
