Thousands of Brits will be hoping to finally take a break overseas in the coming months as travel restrictions were eased. There are many sunny locations opening up to travellers, whether you are after a relaxed beach break, adventure holiday or a city break.
No matter where you are travelling the importance of packing the essentials remains unchanged - and that can sometimes prove a challenge as airlines have different rules when it comes to bag sizes. The Liverpool Echo has brought together a list of cabin size limits for some of our major airlines, including RyanAir, easyJet and Jet2.
Ryanair cabin bag size
All passenger fare types include a small personal bag, which must fit under the seat in front of you. The small personal bag must be a maximum size of 40x20x25cm.
Over-sized cabin baggage will be refused at the boarding gate, or where available, placed in the hold of the aircraft for a fee of €/£69.99. Ryanair recommends checking it in at the bag drop desk before security if you are unsure whether your bag is the correct size.
easyJet cabin bag size
All customers can bring onboard one small cabin bag. This has to be a maximum size of 45 x 36 x 20cm including any handles or wheels.
It includes items like a small trolley case, handbag, rucksack and laptop bag, but they need to fit under the seat in front of you. There is a maximum weight limit of 15kg as you need to be able to lift and carry the bag yourself.
TUI cabin bag size
If you're taking a TUI Airways flight, you can carry one piece of hand luggage of up to 10kg for free. The maximum dimensions of your hand luggage can be 55x40x20cm and you must be able to lift your hand luggage in to the overhead storage compartments yourself.
If your luggage is heavier than your luggage allowance when you check-in for a TUI Airways flight, you’ll need to pay an excess luggage charge.
Excess luggage charges:
- Short-haul flights: £13 or €17 per kilogram.
- Mid haul flights: £15 or €19 per kilogram.
- Long haul flights: £18 or $27 per kilogram.
British Airways cabin bag size
All British Airways passengers are allowed to carry one piece of hand luggage and one small item on board. Hand luggage must not exceed 56x45x25cm and the small item must be no bigger than 40x30x15cm.
Both items can weigh up to 23kg each. If any of your hand baggage is over the size or weight limit, or you have more hand baggage than your allowance, you will need to check it in and it will count towards your checked baggage allowance.
If this then takes you over your free checked baggage allowance, or if you are travelling on hand baggage only (Basic) fare, you will need to pay for extra baggage at the airport rate.
Jet2 cabin bag size
You may carry on board one piece of hand luggage free of charge, as long as it weighs no more than 10kg and is no larger than 56x45x25cm, including any wheels and handles.
If your hand luggage weighs more or is larger than this, it will need to be checked into the aircraft hold, and you may have to pay an additional charge.
