TUI issues update on flights and holidays after 47 countries removed from red list

TUI has issued an update to its flight schedule this autumn and resumed holidays to several popular destinations after the latest travel update.

The airline has cancelled dozens of trips over summer due to the ongoing uncertainty of the travel restrictions, with Spain, Italy and Portugal all previously scrapped.

In response to the UK Government's latest travel announcement, which saw 47 countries removed from the red list, TUI has now resumed some popular routes.

Flights to Egypt are now back on and holidaymakers will also be able to fly to Mexico from October 17 in what will be welcome news for travellers.

TUI is also operating to the Balearics, Canaries, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Portugal and also Turkey.

Other destinations still remained cancelled until the end of October, including Jamaica, Aruba, Austria, Italy and Slovenia, Bulgaria and Tunisia.

It comes as the UK's red travel list was slashed to only seven countries after the traffic light system was changed into two classifications - the red list and Rest of World (ROW) list.

The destinations that remain on the red list are Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Haiti and Dominican Republic.

TUI said in a statement on its website: "We are continually reviewing our holiday programme and cancellations in line with Government updates every three weeks.

"If we need to cancel holidays because of updated Government guidance, or after reviewing our holiday programme, we will contact customers and aim to give at least seven days advance notice.

"These customers can request a full cash refund, or to change to a later date or alternative holiday with a booking incentive."

The airline also confirmed it is giving jet-setters the chance to make fee-free changes to their travel plans until 14 days before their departure, if their holiday begins before October 31.
