British holidaymakers have received an important warning about passports from TUI.
The airline and travel company emailed customers with a holiday booked this year ahead of the busy summer season.
TUI informed travellers that a number of non-EU countries require having at least six months of validity on their passports on the date of arrival.
It recommended reviewing their destination's foreign travel advice page on the UK Foreign Office website to ensure their documents meet the relevant criteria.
For a 'worry free departure', the company also urged people to check their passport expiry date before setting off on their trip, Manchester Evening News reports.
However, if you come to realise you require a new passport, getting one on time could prove difficult.
Travellers have been advised by the HM Passport Office that processing renewal applications could take up to 10 weeks.
For those who are travelling to an EU country, TUI have said customers will need to look at their passport's issue date as well as the expiry date, and that their passport must be no more than 10 years old when they enter the destination country.
For most European countries, TUI says travellers must have at least three months left on their passport on the date they are due to travel home.
It comes as a Scottish teenager reported being turned away by Ryanair for supposedly not meeting EU passport rules.
Financial expert Martin Lewis also recommends travellers check their passport for certain criteria in advance.
If you need to renew your passport quickly, HM Passport office offers an Online Premium Service and a one week Fast Track service.
