TUI cabin crew and staff will stop referring to customers as ‘ladies and gentlemen’ on board flights.
The holiday firm said that people flying with them will instead be referred to as ‘passengers’ - which is a gender neutral term.
Officials say that the move is designed to create a more inclusive environment for everyone on board the flight.
A similar move was made by British Airways last year.
In a statement, TUI said: “As a truly global business we’re committed to making sure our colleagues and customers feel that TUI is an inclusive environment and always feel welcome with us.
“We therefore encourage all our pilots and crew to ensure all public announcements onboard our aircraft are inclusive and this has been the case for a number of years.”
Transport for London also stopped using the traditional term in 2017 to ensure that all passengers felt welcome.
LGBT charity Stonewall welcomed and referred to ‘ladies and gentlemen’ as ‘outdated’.
In a statement issued at the time of TfL’s announcement, Stonewall said: “Language is extremely important to the lesbian, gay, bi and trans community, and the way we use it can help ensure all people feel included.
“We welcome gender neutral announcements to be rolled out across TfL as it will ensure that everyone - no matter who they identify as - feels accounted for.”
