Rangers have been warned they will have to find a way past Slovakian skipper Milan Skriniar on Thursday night by their former player Tugay Kerimoglu.
Barry Ferguson's side face a daunting task in Istanbul against Jose Mourinho's in-form side in the Europa League.
Former Turkish international Tugay played for Rangers for 18 months before being signed by former Ibrox boss Graeme Souness at Blackburn Rovers.
He won 94 caps for his country and later went on to become assistant manager at another of his former clubs Galatasaray and is now a top TV pundit in his homeland.
And the 54-year-old admits he's been blown away by Fenerbahce's Skriniar, who is the captain of Slovakia and on loan from PSG.
(Image: PA) He said: "I have watched a lot of Fenerbahce and for me, the key to their recent success has been Milan Skriniar.
"What he does is build from the back and he is absolutely vital to Fenerbahce and to Jose Mourinho.
"I watched their weekend game against Antalyaspor and I had Skriniar as the Man of the Match again.
"I don't think he allowed them to create a single chance. The opposition didn't come into the penalty box because Skriniar was so commanding.
"In the second half, Fenerbahce wasted almost no energy because the game was won and they relaxed. It was the ideal preparation for the game against Rangers because it was so easy for them.
"And everything came through the organisation of Skriniar. He is the player the team is built around.
"I think Fenerbahce are the team here with the momentum in the title race compared with Galatasaray."
