Russia warns UK will 'cease to exist' if Lithuania standoff triggers nuclear WW3
The UK will 'vanish' if the standoff in Lithuania leads to a nuclear World War 3, a retired Russian general and military expert has warned.
Lieutenant-General Evgeny Buzhinsky explained to Russian state TV that the West is playing a dangerous game by blockading Russian exclave Kaliningrad to stop sanctioned goods being sent to the area through NATO state Lithuania.
He hit out at British general Sir Patrick Sanders, who this week took charge of British land forces and told soldiers to prepare to fight and defeat Russia in a third World War, the Mirror reports.
Buzhinsky stated: “He doesn’t understand that as a result of the Third World War Britain will physically cease to exist... The island will vanish, so I’ve no idea where he or his descendants will live.”
In his message to troops, General Sanders had said: “I am the first Chief of the General Staff since 1941 to take command of the Army in the shadow of a land war in Europe involving a continental power...
"The scale of the enduring threat from Russia shows we've entered a new era of insecurity. It is my singular duty to make our Army as lethal and effective as it can be. The time is now and the opportunity is ours to seize.”
Scots teacher accused of groping and kissing teen pupil 'told headteacher she couldn't remember incident'
A SCOTS teacher accused of groping and kissing a pupil at a local nightclub told school bosses she couldn't remember the alleged incident, a hearing was told.
Pupils were said to have reported Ashley McConnell to teachers at Thurso High School in Caithness after being left feeling "indignant" by her alleged behaviour.
The physics teacher, also known as Ashley Swanson, is alleged to have danced in a sexualised manner with a sixth year pupil at local Skinandi's nightclub in March 2018.
She has also been accused of kissing the 17-year-old, touching his bottom and groin and holding hands with him during the night in question.
Miss McConnell, who was 30 at the time and married, admits holding hands with the teen but denies kissing him.
Woman found dead in Glasgow flat as police stand guard
Police have sealed off a flat in Glasgow after a woman was found dead.
Officers were called to a block of flats in the Yoker area on Monday night.
The body of a 35-year-old woman was found inside the three-storey block.
The death is currently being treated as 'unexplained' but it is not believed to be suspicious.
Love triangle at troubled Scots zoo turns violent as ex-manager kicks and punches owner
A zoo manager attacked the owner of the animal centre after a love triangle turned to violence.
Kenneth Gibney was brought in as boss of the Fife Animal Centre after it was bought over by animal experts Michael Knight and partner Briony Taylor.
But Knight and Gibney clashed over the running of the zoo after Briony left her partner and started a relationship with the zoo manager.
The fall-out led to bullying accusations by Gibney – who lashed out at Knight in front of shocked staff at the centre by pushing him over before kicking him on the body.
Growing lists for Scots hospital cardiology appointments 'leading to heart deaths' - leaked NHS report says
A leaked NHS report has exposed dangerously long waits for cardiology appointments in Glasgow.
The report on outpatient cardiology revealed soaring waiting times and rising deaths among those needing treatment at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
In the QEUH catchment alone, 2890 patients were awaiting a new patient assessment and 459 urgent new patients were awaiting review.
