Storms tore through central Kentucky Tuesday afternoon, toppling trees and power lines. Zach Adams is a captain with the Montgomery County Fire Department. He said the storm arrived around 4:15, packing a punch.
“We got hit pretty hard with some straight line winds and some twisting type motion of the winds along with rain hail, they were a little bit smaller than dime-sized hail that affected the area, along with the wind damage.”
Adams said firefighters had to enter one home to help a woman trapped inside – and another damaged building is one of their own.
“It's actually one of our volunteer stations. We have two guys that actually live there all the time with their families. But they suffered some minor damage to the shingles. We had some shingles that were torn off and some leaks inside, but it's all very minor and nobody was hurt or injured.”
Adams said some parts of the county lost power for several hours, but no injuries were reported.
