Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa showed out in the team’s 36–34 win over the Chargers in Week 1, but some people still criticized the quarterback’s downfield passing game.
Tagovailoa completed 28-of-45 passes on Sunday for 466 yards and three touchdowns. His longest pass was for 47 yards to receiver Tyreek Hill in the fourth quarter, which set up a touchdown later in that drive.
The former first-round pick was asked what he thinks about these critics now, especially after the stat line he posted on Sunday. Tagovailoa gave a simple but fiery response, and he couldn’t help but laugh a little about it.
“I don’t care,” Tagovailoa said. “I mean, I don’t care. 466. That’s what 466 is if I can’t throw deep. Thanks.”

Tagovailoa had multiple deep passes during Sunday’s game. In the first half, he threw back-to-back completion to Hill for 29 and 28 yards. He also threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Hill in the third quarter.
With Tagovailoa firing on all cylinders, the Dolphins will look to keep the momentum rolling on Sunday against the Patriots.
