Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC), a leading chipmaker, announced that its facilities affected by the recent 7.4 magnitude earthquake are anticipated to restart production shortly.
Within just 10 hours of the earthquake hitting the island, TSMC has already recovered over 70% of its tools. The company reassured that safety systems are functioning as usual.
While some tools sustained damage, TSMC confirmed that its extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV) tools remained unharmed. Construction activities will recommence once thorough inspections are conducted.
Initially, TSMC had evacuated certain manufacturing plants as a precautionary measure. However, all employees are reported to be safe following the incident.
The swift recovery efforts by TSMC demonstrate the company's resilience in the face of unexpected challenges. With operations expected to resume promptly, TSMC aims to minimize any potential disruptions to its production schedule.
