The State government has ordered further slash in school timings and steps to bar employees of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) from working in the sun in view of hot summer days.
The schools were presently running classes till 12.30 p.m.
Instructions in this regard were issued after a tele-conference of Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar with Collectors of all districts and senior officials.
The conference was held on the instructions of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in the wake of forecast of severe heatwave conditions by the Met department in the coming days. The department had warned that the next two days will see day temperatures going up by two to four degrees in north Telangana, Nalgonda, Suryapet and Nizamabad.
In this context, Mr. Somesh Kumar asked all Collectors to put doctors and staff on alert in all primary health centres, sub-centres and hospitals. Adequate ORS packets should be made available at the centres. The 108 ambulance services should be readily available in all districts.
The conference was attended by Met office director Nagaratna, Panchayat Raj secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, commissioner of disaster management Manick Raj and health secretary Syed Ali Murtuza Rizvi.
