Truth behind Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek's Paris Fashion Week tense exchange revealed

Salma Hayek and Nicole Kidman are reportedly on good terms, despite a viral video showing a tense moment between them at Paris Fashion Week.

The incident, which has gone viral, saw the Aussie actress seemingly dismiss Hayek’s attempt to pose together for photos at the brand’s Summer 2025 show on September 30

The Big Little Lies star and the Frida actress were standing next to Katy Perry when Hayek adjusted her stance to pose with Kidman, who had her back to the cameras, appeared to brush her off.

However, Kidman seemed displeased and pushed Hayek's hand away, pointing at her and reportedly saying, “Don’t touch me”, before she kissed Perry on the cheek.

The outing marked Kidman’s first public appearance since the passing of her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, earlier that month at the age of 84.

The video of their awkward interaction circulated on social media, with fans dissecting the moment between the Hollywood stars.

One fan commented: “Oh god, you could cut the tension with a knife. Why is Nicole being so rude?”

“That was so awkward,” another penned.

However, some fans defended Kidman’s reaction, with one Reddit user commenting: “I get that Salma was probably trying to direct her to pose for the cameras, but some people don’t like to be touched regardless of the situation, and you just gotta respect that.”

While the star appeared composed on the red carpet, another fan suggested that the pressures of the event, combined with Kidman’s personal grief, may have affected her demeanor that night.

They shared: “I know Nicole recently lost her mother, so maybe she’s not in the right headspace at the present moment for all of this.

“Regardless, nothing wrong with telling someone not to touch you or moving their hands off your body.”Following the speculation, an insider has claimed there’s “no issue” between the Hollywood stars and they remain “friends.”

A source told MailOnline: ‘There is no issue. This is a snippet of a video that doesn’t represent reality. There is a photo of them posing together. Nothing happened.

“They were talking about something concerning advice and having a pow-wow – while being bombarded and yelled at and surrounded from all angles by cameras. They just wanted to go.

“They are friends and are fine despite what anyone thinks. Nicole is not rude. At all. She may be awkward at times, but she is not rude.”

Despite fan speculation about a potential feud, the Mexican actress took to social media shortly after the event, including a shot with Kidman whom she tagged, along with a heartfelt caption praising the show.

She wrote: “Finally, last night, the grand finale of my Paris Fashion Week 2025… Balenciaga and Demna for a terrific show” and included Kidman’s social media handle in the caption.

The star-studded Balenciaga event also saw Lindsay Lohan and Swedish actor Bill Skarsgård in attendance while David and Victoria Beckham’s son Romeo made his runway debut.

The following day, Kidman's 16-year-old daughter, Sunday Rose, had her own debut on the Miu Miu runway.

The Standard has contacted Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek’s reps for comment.
