According to the campaign, Harris reiterated that her values 'have not changed' multiple times, emphasizing her continued alignment with what they described as San Francisco radical ideals.
The statement pointed out several issues that were not addressed in the interview, including Harris' support for ending cash bail for violent criminals, fundraising for the Minnesota Freedom Fund, her tie-breaking vote for the American Rescue Plan, which some economists claim contributed to inflation, and her advocacy for closing immigration detention centers.
The campaign criticized Harris for not addressing the crime crisis in the nation during her interview, noting that she spent minimal time discussing the economy and immigration.
During the interview, Harris defended her work as the appointed border czar for the Biden administration, highlighting the benefits of her efforts in addressing root causes of immigration. She mentioned historic investments by American businesses in the region and a reduction in the number of immigrants coming from that area since the initiation of her work.
When asked about her plans for a potential presidency, Harris expressed a vision for a new direction, emphasizing hope, optimism, and unity. She contrasted this with what she described as the divisive agenda of the former president, stating that Americans are ready to move forward and turn the page on past divisions.
In terms of policy proposals, Harris outlined plans for a $6,000 child tax credit and a $25,000 tax credit for first-time homeowners, aligning with some of the initiatives previously announced by the Trump-Vance campaign.
