President-elect Donald Trump's senior adviser, Jason Miller, expressed confidence in defense secretary pick Pete Hegseth ahead of his confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee. Miller predicted that Hegseth will perform well during the hearing.
Miller defended the process of only allowing the heads of the committee to review the FBI background check into Hegseth, stating that it is a historical norm. He emphasized that both the chairman and ranking member of the committee have had the opportunity to review the file, dismissing concerns about hiding information from Senate Democrats.
Regarding the release of former special counsel Jack Smith's report on Trump's actions during the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, Miller asserted that President Trump did not commit any wrongdoing. He criticized the report, claiming it exemplifies the politicization of the Justice Department.
Miller expressed confidence in all of President Trump's nominees, stating his belief that they will all be confirmed. He highlighted his expectation that Hegseth will impress during his confirmation hearing.
