President Donald Trump is set to sign executive orders on Monday that will reverse gender and sex-based initiatives implemented by the Biden administration and eliminate diversity programs within the federal government. These actions, as outlined by an incoming White House official, reflect Trump's commitment to addressing culture war issues that were central to his campaign.
The first executive order will mandate agencies to treat biological men and women as distinct sexes, cease the promotion of 'gender ideology,' and require certain agencies to only recognize 'male' and 'female' on official forms. For instance, the State Department will now demand that passport and visa applicants accurately reflect their sex on documentation. Additionally, federal prisons and migrant shelters will be obligated to safeguard 'single sex spaces.'

One of the key directives of this order is to prohibit the use of federal funds for transition procedures. It also aims to protect Americans' right to free speech, particularly in situations where individuals are asked to use preferred pronouns. The official emphasized that the federal government will no longer endorse gender ideology.
The second executive order will put an end to what the official described as 'radical and wasteful government DEI programs,' referring to diversity, equality, and inclusion initiatives. This order will dismantle the DEI bureaucracy, including environmental justice programs, equity-related grants, equity action plans, and equity initiatives.
