Former President Donald Trump is set to make an appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists' annual convention in Chicago on Wednesday. The Trump campaign announced that he will be participating in a question and answer session focusing on key issues affecting the Black community.
Trump's campaign has been actively diversifying his outreach efforts by scheduling appearances in areas beyond his traditional support base. Earlier this year, he attended the Libertarian Party convention in Washington, where he faced a less than enthusiastic reception.
The campaign highlighted Trump's policies that it claims have positively impacted Black Americans during his first term in office. This move comes at a time when President Joe Biden's favorability among Black voters has seen a significant decline since assuming office in 2021.
However, the political landscape has shifted with President Biden stepping aside and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris. Harris, if elected, would make history as the first Black woman and the first South Asian American to hold the office of the President of the United States.
