President-elect Donald Trump has appointed two energy experts to lead the expansion of American energy in his upcoming term. The energy industry has already presented a wish list to the incoming administration and Congress outlining their top priorities.
In a press release in November, Trump announced that North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum will be nominated as Secretary of the Department of Interior and will head a new National Energy Council. This council will include all relevant Departments and Agencies involved in various aspects of American energy.
Additionally, Trump named Chris Wright, founder and CEO of Liberty Energy, as his choice to lead the Department of Energy. Wright will also serve on the National Energy Council. Trump highlighted Wright's experience in Nuclear, Solar, Geothermal, and Oil and Gas industries, noting his role in the American Shale Revolution that led to energy independence and reshaped global energy markets.
Reacting to these appointments, American Conservation Coalition (ACC) President Christopher Barnard expressed enthusiasm, calling the pairing of Burgum and Wright 'the dream team.'
