President Donald Trump expressed his support for the idea of distributing a portion of the savings generated by Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) back to American citizens in the form of a dividend. Speaking at an investment conference in Miami, Trump mentioned that the administration is contemplating a proposal where 20% of the savings achieved through DOGE's cost-cutting measures would be allocated to U.S. citizens, with another 20% directed towards reducing the national debt.

Trump highlighted that such dividend payments could serve as an incentive for individuals to identify and report instances of wasteful spending, thereby actively participating in the government's efforts to save money. He emphasized that this approach would encourage people to take ownership of the process and contribute to overall efficiency.

During his return to Washington aboard Air Force One, Trump expressed his enthusiasm for the plan put forth by Musk, indicating his strong support for the concept. Musk had previously hinted at the possibility of collaborating with the President on a 'DOGE Dividend' initiative, which would involve returning a portion of the savings realized by DOGE back to taxpayers.

Musk's Department of Government Efficiency has already made significant strides in streamlining operations, resulting in the termination or layoff of numerous federal government employees. The proposal to share the benefits of these efficiency gains with the public reflects a novel approach to governance and fiscal responsibility.
