President Donald Trump expressed interest in the idea of distributing a portion of the savings generated by Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) back to American citizens in the form of a dividend. This proposal comes amidst legal challenges from labor unions, Democrats, and federal employees against DOGE.

Thursday marked one month since Trump assumed office. He is scheduled to host a reception in honor of Black History Month and deliver a speech at a meeting of the Republican Governors Association at the National Building Museum. Additionally, a press briefing with White House officials is on the agenda.

Trump announced that he would be signing executive orders at a different desk in the White House as the Resolute Desk undergoes refinishing. The temporary replacement desk, previously used by President George H.W. Bush, holds historical significance as it was built for the owners of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway.

In his recent executive order, Trump targeted organizations for downsizing, including the United States Institute of Peace and the Presidio Trust. He also directed the elimination of advisory panels such as the Health Equity Advisory Committee and the Advisory Committee on Long COVID.

Furthermore, Trump voiced support for a federal takeover of Washington, D.C., emphasizing the need to address issues of crime and homelessness in the district. The Senate is set to vote on the confirmation of Kash Patel as FBI director, a decision that has raised concerns among Democrats.

Despite potential challenges, Trump and Musk affirmed their commitment to working together. Trump endorsed the idea of allocating a portion of DOGE savings to American citizens, proposing that 20% of the savings be distributed to citizens and another 20% be allocated towards reducing the national debt.
