Following a failed assassination attempt at a Saturday rally where former President Donald Trump was rushed to safety, some of his supporters directed blame towards the press. Attendees at the rally pointed fingers at individual journalists in the press pen, shouting obscenities and accusing them of being at fault for the incident.

Reports from the event indicated that some rallygoers warned the press that 'you're next' and that their 'time is coming.' There were even attempts by a few attendees to breach the barriers separating the press pen from the crowd, although security personnel intervened to prevent any escalation.

In the aftermath of the shooting, a segment of Trump supporters has singled out the news media as a target for assigning blame. While the Trump campaign called for condemning all forms of violence and disavowed dangerous rhetoric on social media, certain supporters in the MAGA media criticized the press for their critical coverage of Trump's policies and actions.

Throughout the campaign cycle, news organizations extensively covered Trump's intentions to manipulate the federal government for personal gain and to retaliate against his political adversaries. This reporting has come under scrutiny from some Trump supporters who argue that it contributed to a charged atmosphere that led to the assassination attempt, while downplaying the role of the former president's own inflammatory language.
