US President Donald Trump has suggested that Ukraine may fall under Russian control in the future, as he proposed a deal for the country to share its natural resources in exchange for US assistance. Trump mentioned in an interview that he had requested $500 billion worth of rare earth from Ukraine, claiming that Ukrainian officials had agreed to the proposal.
Trump emphasized the value of Ukraine's land, citing its rare earth, oil, and gas resources. He expressed the need to secure US investments in Ukraine, as the country plays a significant role in US spending. Trump stated that Ukraine might eventually become part of Russia or remain independent, but he insisted on having the US funds returned.

Prior to these statements, Trump had hinted at a potential meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Retired Gen. Keith Kellogg, Trump's envoy to Ukraine and Russia, announced plans to discuss peace strategies for Ukraine with allies at the Munich Security Conference in mid-February. Following the conference, Kellogg is scheduled to visit Kyiv for the first time, as reported by Ukrainian state media.
